The Nottingham Retirement Community in Dewitt, New York is home to more than 250 senior residents. On its 95-acre suburban hillside site, the Nottingham Community offers a wide variety of living accommodations including independent, enriched and assisted living, as well as skilled nursing. In 1996, the Nottingham Residential Health Care Facility and additional enriched housing units were constructed to provide an expanded continuum of care to the community.
The forty-bed nursing wing and enriched housing units were designed to resemble a cluster of small traditional homes in the vernacular of the existing surroundings. The skilled nursing pod was planned with individual resident rooms and shared suites grouped around sky lighted lounges and accessible outdoor patios. A support wing with physical and occupational therapy, congregate dining and administrative functions connects the nursing wing to the enriched housing. The new nursing wing is served by a covered drive entryway and is connected to existing residential units by interior walkways.
